The Barossa as traditional and best known of all Australian wine grape growing regions is situated 70 km north of Adelaide.
When the first German settlers started planting vineyards in the mid 19th century, they could not know that Barossa Valley would become Australias most famous grape growing region. The Barossa Valley is worldwide reknown for its high quality grapes and premium wines. The hallmark of the Barossa is the "Shiraz", but the mediterranean climate with its micro-climatic variations is also perfectly suited for many other famous grape varieties.
The LanzThomson Vineyards are situated on a high exposed ridge at the southwest of the Barossa Valley. East and south from the vineyards the view is framed by the hills of the famed sub-region of Eden Valley whilst 80 kms to the west are the distant and cold waters of Spencer Gulf.
