The faraway tree on OUTLOOK Vineyard, a perfect sunset place
In 1999 Marianne & Thomas Lanz were on one of their many odysseys to Australia. As fortune would have it another 26 hectare property was available on the other side of the hill on which the MOOLANDA vineyard is located and Thomas and Marianne took the plunge and bought it. The OUTLOOK Vineyard contains a variety of aspects and is characterized by some steep slopes, shallow soils over rock and shale.
The first vines were planted in the spring of 2000 5 hectares of Shiraz 2 hectares of Mourvedre 1.44 hectares of Grenache. Then 2 hectares of Viognier were planted in 2001. Development of the OUTLOOK Vineyard was completed in 2004 with the planting of a further 4.75 ha of Shiraz. On a sheltered terrace of OUTLOOK Vineyards lays the house and cottage where the Thomson family lives and workes - a new barn converted into a loft-house with wonderful OUTLOOK views of almost 360 degrees.
